For what it's worth, my '63 Plus four was equipped with painted wire wheels when I bought it in 1973. Seems to me that they were probably not an aftermarket 'downgrade'. At the time I thought about getting them chromed, but everyone cautioned against it, supporting what Jeremy wrote about a concern that the process would weaken the metal. Cheers Scott Barrie |
