I have solved the problem by purchasing a used MGB windscreen. $75 and a 220 
mile drive fixed it.

Maybe I'll return to my attempt to replace the glass on the original when I
run out of other things to do.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Next is the Heritage l/f wing, which, I hear, isn't going to fit all that
well.
