----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Tinkham" <jltinkham@tds.net> "Why, when you could buy this one just up the road from my place and ship it to the US - all for probably less than that amount, with little manual labor involved :-)" Because it isn't anywhere as simple as that. I researched importing newer MGs a couple years back and the newest I could import and put on the road would have been early 70s BV8's. Anything newer starts running afoul of safety and pollution laws/requirements. Jim 69C 66B ===================================== 25 years and older are exempt from EPA and DOT regs. I just imported a 67 Austin this week and had no problems. Larry Daniels P.S. I tried twice to post about the Austin pickup that I just brought in through the port in Baltimore and neither one came through. They were long posts. Could that have been the problem? The second time I BCC'd it to myself and that made it, but the two lists didn't come through at all. |
