I would gladly settle for some standard problems, like, my brakes
won't work or, my top gets stuck halfway down, or even my left tire
goes right while my right goes left.
But No.
So, here it is:
'71 MGB; daily driver; drive the car all day - perfect. (Well, okay,
Miatas beat me off the mark, as do TR-6's, but what the heck.)
Comes dark, turn on the headlights; shift (from any gear to any gear)
and there is an instant dead short.
The alternator light COMES SCREAMING ON, the radio stops dead in its
tracks. And then.....TA DA!
within two nanoseconds, the light goes out, the radio comes back on
and it's as if nothing ever happened.
Accelerate - perfect. Shift. light on, radio off, two nanoseconds
pass - every thing's perfect.
Turn the lights off, shift, perfect. Turn the lights on, and NOTHING
happens - until it happens again ten minutes later.
So, I checked the battery holder behind the seats, (my battery holder
is pretty none existent and will need some serious welding or
something pretty soon - how's yours?)
but the terminals are safely away from the metal.
Anyone know which of the Gods I should pray to for relief from this?
Oh. It has not happened now for the last three days.
Cordially,
Mike Torrusio
with the 71 Brit Racing Green
that just cruised by at 90.
