FWIW: On the T series cars the temp sensor location is in the header tank of the radiator. On the MGA - , it is located AHEAD of the thermostat in the head. Thus on T series cars the temperature is of the coolant in the radiator, and the MGA- it's of the coolant in the head. If the thermostat is only partially or not even open the T series gauge doesn't reflect the true engine temp.
