Ken: Not so stange. I've seen similar AC plugs but they are much older and use larger threads. They were common back in the Model A days so you could take them apart for cleaning or repair of damaged components. That was back in the days when we weren't a throw away society. Ever try to find a filler for a Thermos bottle lately? It'll cost you almost as much as a new bottle.
