Fenders

How different is the front fender for a 1972 MGB roadster from the front
fender for an early 1970s (exact year unknown, but I don't think it
matters) MGB-GT?  Are they close enough that I can cut and weld and make
the GT fender fit the roadster or would this be more trouble than it's
worth?  Thanks for the help.
