Gordon,
The stuff that's in the can requires that there be a rusty surface for the
chemicals to work. The instructions specifically state to remove any flaking
rust but not to sand down to clean metal. I've never seen the spray version.
Does it give the same instructions?

I use a product called Extend. I think it is made by the same company that
makes Permatex. Comes in a spray can or small can for a brush. I put it on
some small spots on my A 2 years ago and have yet to have any rust coming
through. Just sprayed most of a can on a new spot on the B but have no
results as of yet.
