Several articles in the Sunday Times Business section today on the
BMW/Rover/MG/Alchemy/Land Rover/Ford issue. One of them says the first
offering from The MG Car Company will be a sporty version of the Rover 75
called the MG 75. Suppose they will tweak the suspension, steering and
engine a little. Maybe they should have called the new company 'The Morris
Garages' for a few years...
Also says they plan to make 40,000 cars per year. Not sure how that ties in
with the 'aluminium chassis/composites body' statements which will require
completely different production techniques. Still no word on North America.
BMW comes in for comprehensive criticism - and this is not a xenophobic rant
that one might expect from the Sun but reasoned analysis.
