All,
My brake MC in my 77B has needed replacing for a
while. I have posted about this before and from the
symptoms I have, everyone said it is the classic case
of a bad MC. On everyones advice, I ordered a new on
instead of trying to rebuild (thanks ED!!!).

First off, everything in my car, up till this point,
has been original...at least the correct part type for
the year if not the original. However, the Moss
catalogue says that the 77 MC had a square reservoir.
Mine has a wedge one. No big deal, just a hint that
it has been fooled with. About 6 months ago, I was
doing some work on that side of the engine and read in
Haynes that my MC should have a pressure failure
warning switch. Mine does not. No wires and I did
not feel or see anything resembling this switch under
the MC. I thought that someone had either put an
older MC on my car or the NA models didn't have this.
Wrong on both accounts as most of you probably know.
The MC I have is the one in the exploded view on page
157 of Haynes.

The hole was there for the switch, but the switch was
not there. I missed this before. I searched all over
and I cannot find the green/orange and green wires
that are supposed to be connected to it. It was dark
out there in the garage, but I think the hole for the
switch was plugged. The new MC I have has the hole
for it as it should and square reservoir.

One more piece of information. I have had to add a
little fluid every week for a while and could never
figure out where the fluid was leaking from.

Now the questions:

1) Is it possible the PO just plugged this hole or
that the PFWS backed out of the MC???
2) Is it possible that it was plugged and now it is
leaking a little from this hole (not sure if that is
even possible) and thats what my entire problem has
been??? Meaning, if I just order the switch, bleed
the brakes, and install the switch might I be okay or
should I replace the MC anyway (probably the way to go
as I have it already)
3) What should I do next???

Should I order the switch and try to wire it
correctly? Is it a typical thing to just plug the
hole and not put the switch in? Please help, I don't
want to become a DPO. I think alot of times DPOs
become DPOs just because they don't know any better.
I'm trying to find out and do it the right way.

Very confused. Sorry so long.
Tom
