The number of mail mesages sent out varies a bit. During the weekend when
folks are busy watching TV, working on their cars or whatever, maybe eighty to
a hundred thousand messages go out. On monday and tuesday when they are all
sitting at their deskes and should be working, but instead send their tales of
what happened over the weekend, the server spits out on the order of 175,000
to 200,000 email transactions. This is the fan out number, not the count of
messages coming in. That is, a single message sent to a list with say, 1200
members, results in 1200 messages going out. So there's a big difference in
the count of input versus output. The 200,000 outbound messages reflect maybe
300 to 400 messages coming in. You don't want to know how many error messages,
which I have to wade through, get generated for each inbound message to popular
big lists!
