75 B Windshield

I recently had a new windshield installed in my B.  My problem is that in
the past I have gone through quite a few windshields, every time I go by a
semi on the highway with the windows down the soft top "balloons up" and in
result the windshield cracks.  Is there some way I can stop this from
happening?  Do I need to tighten or loosen the center rod?
What's your thoughts?
