copper vs. steel

I think this depends on where you live -- In Britain I had a car which
failed its inspection when about 4 years old because of corroded steel
brake lines. Here in California, I wouldn't worry about it. 

This is another reason for inspections -- for those people in places where
salt is used on the roads -- how many car owners get under their car and
look for rusty brake lines?
