Pom is actually a shorter version of P.H.O.M.  this in itself stood for
Prisoner or Her Majesty.  It referred to the transport convicts that
England sent to OZ way back in the 1700 and 1800s.  hence forth Aussies
refer to all Brits as Poms.  it is NOT meant to be offensive and should
never be regarded as such.
