78B Tach Question

While musing over my B today, I remembered something that I had always
wanted to ask the list.

When I start my B, the tach doesn't come up. The car has to run for about
10 seconds, and then the tach bounces up to life.

>From what I understand, I am not the only person with this problem. Does
anyone know what causes it?
