Thanks to everyone who answered my request for Jaguar info - sorry to bomb the
list with it. I've decided against the purchase for a couple reasons - money
for upkeep and the MGB needs work again.
I have a 78 MGB which had a cheap aftermarket electronic dist when I purchased
it. I was fouling plugs and decided it was time to put in the Mallory dual
point with vacuum advance that I purchased last year.
Everything went well - I made sure when I drilled on the new drive dog that it
was the exact location as the old one - and not reversed. I made sure where
the dist cap location was and made sure it went back the same way. I also
installed the new Mallory coil and resistor I got with it. Everything should
be hooked up and aligned right.
When I tried to start nothing - moved the dist a little and get some backfire
- checked the spark from the coil to dist and good. Checked the spark from
the dist to the spark plugs and seems weak. Yes I used the same wires as they
weren't that old. This is a new dist so the cap and rotor are also new.

I'm going to get new spark plug wires today but wondered if anyone had other
advice for what could be the problem here - I want to drive as the weather is
beautiful but can't - bummer! Any help will again be greatfully appreciated
