Special tools?

Hey all,
If I acquire an MGB, am I going to have to buy a bunch of new tools?
Specifically I am thinking of Whitworth sockets and those
almost-but-not-quite-Phillips head screwdrivers.  

Is there a specific year when MG switch from this obscure British stuff
:-) to standard screws and nuts and bolts?
