Fender Covers

Hi, I am thinking about removing the front left and right
fenders(wings?) on my '74 BGT.  This way I can cover as much of the
hidden areas for rust control.  Can anyone give me some ideas what kind
of problems I should be prepared for before removing the fenders?  Yes I
have several good manuals which provides details but it can never
replace practical experience.
