1968 1275 mods ?

I'm looking to add a little pep to my stock 1968 Midget 1275 and was 
wondering what is the best place to start. The engine is in bad need of a 
valve job and I was thinking about a high performance head from Mini Mania. 
They offer what they call a "Longman S Head".

Is the addition of a modified head worth the investment for a road car ? if 
not where should I start.
