I'm not sure the factory method is necessarily the best way or the best
example on how to start a new engine, since the wararnty would be long over
when any damage showed up, although it probably is the most cost effective.
Pressurized systems and priming seem a bit too much to me in the overkill
department. When I restart my 70 Midget after its six month winter nap, I
(try to find patience to) pull the plugs, squirt a little oil in the holes
and spin it with the starter to bring up oil pressure and circulate the oil
with pretty much no load on the bearings. It's a little Lawn Boyish when I
put the plugs back in and start it though. I think that would be enough
for a new engine too, since presumably the parts were'nt aseembled dry.
