My MGA came with a head that had been "shaved" quite seriously, but it had also been polished and ported so I wanted to use it. To keep the cranking cylinder pressure to 160 lbs. (the maximum we have found will tolerate 92 octane gas without detonation), I decided to use two head gaskets - the modern, composition type. I used K & W Copper Coat spray-on gasket sealer on both sides of each gasket. Over 26,000 hard-driven miles later, no leaks of any kinds. Lawrie British Sportscar Center |
