I've been doing some more "homework" on british car locks. I notice
that may parts for British cars will "cross-over" to other cars.
Here are some listings for the following cars in the 1993 catalog:
MG - B and Midget
Same ign lock by year:
up to 69
70 - 74
75 - 77
78 & up
All cars from 69 and up apparently take the same door locks
B trunk locks (complete) are listed. Also available in "plug only" (the
middle part where the key goes).
Midget (complete) trunk locks are are not listed, but the plugs are.
Triumph listings for:
TR4
TR6
TR7 & TR8
TR250
Spitfire, & GT6 up to 70
Spitfire & GT6 70 & up
Austin/Morris:
American
Healey
Marina
Mini
Minor
Others with very complicated listings (footnotes out the ass - be
prepared to answer a shitload of questions):
Aston Martin
Jaguar
Land Rover
Panther
Range Rover
Sterling
Sunbeam
TRV
Well there you have it folks. These are all of the listings for cares
made in England as of 1993.
I'm willing to help list members in aquiring hard to get parts that
are not available though normal means (Moss, TRF, etc. where they would
be easier and possibly cheaper). Most are going to be special order as
most distributors won't bother to stock them for obvious reasons. This
will probably involve shipping charges (twice - them to me, me to you)
and may take several weeks.
Payments can be made by check or credit card before I order. (I don't
want to get stuck with special order parts that can't be returned.)
Checks won't be cashed or credit cards prossesed until the material is
in my hands from the manufacturer.
Admittedly, I don't have a lot of first hand knowledge/experience with
these locks as most of the stuff I do on a regular basis is American,
Japanese, German, etc.
Many if not most come "uncoded" , which means _no tumblers_. As far as
keying kits, at the present time I have none for british cars. If I
need to get one to key up a lock for you, guess who's paying for it (at
cost). (Hint: Not me) :)
If there is something you're interested in, drop me a line and I'll
place a call to the manufacturer to get a price. Please include a phone
number where I can call you collect if nessessary, for any further info
that the manufacturer may require.
Please understand that I am not in this to make a fortune, but I
obviously don't want to be losing money either (the wife gets pissed
when I do that). I'm mainly doing this as a "hobby" and to help out my
friends here. (Well maybe a couple of bucks for the MG fund here and
there.)
