hard top colour?

        I just purchased a factory hard top for my 73 b'. The previous owner
had painted it black. All pictures I have seen of hardtops, show them in
white. Is there a "proper colour"? Also does anybody know of a good source
for hardtop fittings and seals? I need to replace some pieces.
