How long has it been sitting? I have read many stories where starting an
engine that has been sitting for a long time has causes deep satisfaction
but also internal engine damage. You probably end up opening it anyway if
not just to change gaskets etc.
I would put new rings and bearings in it, rehone the bores and clean
everything out well and just generally inspect everything for rust damage
and gummed up passageways etc.
