I believe the mystique of the knockoff is the main reason for not doing a
complete swap, It would be unique, and that is one of the things that
separates the MG and its owner from the rest.

Hi.

I've been following the thread on a proposed
wire-wheel-hub-to-disc-wheel-hub adapter.
I can certainly understand the appeal of getting rid
of the wire wheels, but I am confused about what has
been said previously.

On an MGB, a switch from wires to disc wheels would require
two new front hubs (the part that sits on the swivel axle)
and a complete rear axle assembly. (The disc and wire wheel
cars don't use the same differential case or half-shafts.
The handbrake cables are different too.) I imagine these
components could be purchased used for around $200 or less.
Even taking into account the time and hassle of switching
differentials, I would think that an adapter would not make
much economic sense in comparison to swapping parts.

Does the MGA rear axle setup differ much from the B in this
regard?
