The last time I rebuilt the engine in my B, when I was running it over 2000
rpm after it first started, the cam lobes took turns making horrible noises
like something trying to come apart. Well, six of them did. The last two
waited a week to wear in. People on the freeway looked over in surprise
when my car started making noises like it was about to fly into pieces. They
were even more surprised when I kept driving and the noises went away. 75K
miles later, the engine is still happy.
