A reminder of what I wrote:

"when half way down on the expansion stroke the centre-line of the con-rod is
pointing at the thrust face".

When half-way 'through' (if 'down' is too confusing) it's expansion stroke the
con-rod is pointing at the thrust face, whichever way up the engine is.

  You may do things differently where you are (meaning no disrespect) but when
  assembling an engine on an engine stand here it is the normal practice to
  rotate the block so that the crankshaft is on the top.
