The thrust face of a piston is the face of a piston that is forced against
the cylinder wall on the power stroke. This is important to ID on some
piston designs like offset pins and the old split skirt pistons. Usually
when it is important the piston manufacture will put an arrow or some other
marking on the crown of the piston.
