During the rebuild of my engine last summer my mechanic showed me the
hypereutectic pistons for my 302. I too made the observation that the
edges around the valve reliefs were jagged and sharp. I asked him to
smooth them out before he installed them. I am not sure if he did or
not. He didn't seem too concerned about their condition.
