James,
Some Fords also used lash caps. Would be even easier to
use them. Just turn the valve stem at the end a smaller diameter
that would allow the lash cap to fit. They are hardened and if one ever
gets
damaged or worn is slipped off and another one slid on. Simple,
no welding or other process needed.
