Lists, sorry in advance for the cross post, but I wanted to hit the
collective experience on this one.

I am looking for a brush or spray on header paint with some staying power.
I used the high heat autoparts store rattle cans last time. I don't
remember the brand name but it is silver with ceramic powder in it and is
supposed to hold up to 1200deg. I painted my entire exhaust with this and
most of it burned off the primary tubes of my V8 headers on initial startup.
Everything from the collector back has lasted. The stuff that is left on
the primaries is flaking and peeling off the pipes and making a mess of the
engine compartment. This all seems to be inline with what I have heard
about rattle can header paints.

Can anyone suggest a paint, preferably a satin silver, that will live a long
happy life on a pair of tubular headers? I'm looking for specific brands
that people have had good success with, because I don't want to refinish
them a third time.

The pipes are aluminized mild steel and I plan to sandblast off the old
stuff before refinishing. FWIW I took the temperature of my headers as the
paint was burning off them last year and it was substantially below the
1200deg.

Thanks everybody
