  I just bought a world class T5 from a '95 Camaro (3.4 liter V6) since
I got a good deal on it and I have been having some problems with my '84
T5. I tried to write the list about it before I got it Saturday
morning, but for some reason my message never went through. When I
bough it I though that it looked the same as mine, fine spline input
shaft and all. When I got it home and set the transmissions side by
side, they are basically identical (except the top cover is shaped a
little differently) except that the bellhousing bolt pattern is
different. The bolt lugs on the top are almost the same, but the bottom
ones don't stick out from the body of the transmission nearly as far as
on the older one. Also the input shaft is about a quarter inch longer.
Since the input shaft is longer it seams as if it would be fairly easy
to make an adapter plate to fit between my Buick 3 - 4 bellhousing
(utilizing the top inner (3-speed) holes and the bottom outer holes of
the bellhousing) out of quarter inch steel or aluminum. Has anybody
done this? The transmission shifts so nice and smooth I hate to take it
back and I would like to use it if possible. Thanks.
