Hi Don
Originally the head was located by means of two of the head studs, at either
end of the head, being a larger diameter close to the block to mate up with
larger holes in the head. If you are not using this method and do not have
a jig to align the cam shaft vertical drive with the centre of the dynamo
shaft the trick is to place the dynamo in position on the front gear case and
fit the forks and coupling to the vertical drive before tightening up the head
bolts. This helps to get the head in proper alignment. You need to ensure
that the vertical distances when everything is tightened does not distort the
coupling too much if at all. Of course if you've got a bent armature shaft
none of this will prevent the coupling failing sooner or later.
Regards
Paul
Hi Don,
I have fixed such problems several times in the past.
When you set up the cam bevel gear, the coupling must not be stretched nor
pressed,
otherwise it sometimes breaks.
If you are not lucky enough, drive fork breaks.
Good luck,
Hiro

Hi Don!
Since we don't hear of this sort of failure very often ,if at all, I'd
suspect
some sort of installation anomaly - or - material failure. A close inspection
of the bits should tell.
