Don,
I've always remembered the color to be the dark red.
As far as US suppliers, you could try Moss. They probably supply it for
T-types. However, I always use one of the four below:
Woolies: http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/
Paul Beck Vintage Supplies: http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/en/
Complete Automobilist:

Bryan Purves: http://www.bryanPurves.co.uk/

Subject: exterior piping questions-PA
Hello gents,
I'm in need of a supplier of piping or cording for the exterior of my PA.
Would prefer a US supplier due to exchange rate/transportation charges.
Also, what is correct color of cording for a duotone red (Carmine/Saratoga)
paint scheme. Dark or Light?
Thanks,
Don B.
