Dennis,

The 'vertical drive oil seal conversion housing' is a direct replacement for the original 'felt seal and felt seal retainer' which sits in the 'vertical drive oil drain gallery'. The second oils seal fits into the base of the 'vertical drive oil drain gallery', the base of the gallery has to be machined to take this lip seal. This seal replaces the oil scroll on vertical drive fork.

I hope this explains what you want to know.

Peter Green.

Subject: MMM - Vertical Drive Oil Gallery

Hi All
In the Moss Europe (Barry Walker) catalog page 25 shows part number 504
(Vertical drive oil seal conversion housing) and part number 505 (Special
neoprene seal for vertical drive housing). In the picture (page 24) there is a note
"Note the removal of oil scroll when 2nd oil seal if fitted in the base of
the verticle drive oil gallery".

If part #505 is the 2nd oil seal, where is the 1st? What is the 1st made of?
Why remove the oil scroll?

The service parts list refers to a felt seal and a felt seal retainer.

As you can see, I am totally confused in this area. Comments please.

Thanks
Dennis
