I've been buying batteries from an outfit called Hensley's for my MMM cars.
I can't answer all your questions but they have two sizes, one of which is
about an inch taller than the other and is more powerful. The base
dimensions are within a half an inch of the originals and the taller one
fits well in the L1. FWIW. The last one I bought about three years ago was a
little over $50.
