There is a exhaust wastegate to limit the total amount of intake
pressurization. It lets excess exhaust gasses bypass the drive side of
the turbo. Keeps that backpressure thing from getting too bad.
Then there is the Blow Off Valve, you need that on the other side to
prevent the intake/throttlebody from being damaged when the throttle
blades close with 15 -30 PSI of air on the way, when shifting etc...
