There are racing oils, Royal Purple for one, used by Pro Stock and other drag racers that are very, very thin. Royal Purple has a 0W-10 and a 0W-7. I would guess at 80 degrees the oil was as thin as 5W-30 is at 200 degrees. The old Indy Ford V-8 (non turbo) owners manual called for 180 water and 160 oil before cranking the motor. The oil specified was Ford Rotella(sp) 20W-40. Bryan |
