One thing I would add to what has already been said is this...as I recall, the text book says for a tapered bearing, torque to 20 foot pounds while rotating the wheel to fully seat the bearings, then back off and tighten finger tight (no load). (Backup if needed to select a key slot.) A ball bearing requires a preload. I believe that it is a 20 foot-pounds preload. Tom, Redding CA - #216 D/FCC |
