The latest Speedway Illustrated magazine has an article on a bunch of new
circular saws coming out that are designed to cut steel, based on new blade
technology.
They are of course lower rpm than their wood-cutting counterparts, and have
different arbors to overcome mistakes or stupidity.
Portable models are available, as is a chop-saw design from Porter Cable.
Acknowledged is that blades ($40-80) don't last indefinitely, but "will last
for hundreds of cuts if used with common sense".
The author was enthusiastic about the performance he experianced.
