LOL.
Similar story. Welding in the garage (stair railing) in my favorite work
jeans.
Of course, both knees are out, and all those fuzzy white threads are hanging
out.
(You know what's going to happen - - - )
Now, it's not unusual to toss a spark on a bare knee every now and then, so a
momentary hot spot you try to ignore. This one kept staying hot, and staying
hot,
until I'm doing the stomp dance and whacking away doing additional damage to
the
scorched flesh - yep, jeans caught on fire - cotton burns good.
Made me immediately trim off all the other (what was left) loose threads.
My welding safety book says never to weld in flammable clothes. For me this
usually
means artificial fabrics (like polyester) but I've spent some time pulling
congealed plastic
off my skin - and you can't brush molten plastic off, and trying to do so just
spreads the
hot sticky plastic to new areas where it creates new burns. (which leads to
more brushing,
spreading the joy until thermal equilibrium is reached.)
People wonder about you when you suddenly jump up, start yelling and doing
this strange
dance. (it's also a good way to knock stuff over.)
My old leather welding apron is one of my favorite welding tools. Yes, it
covers both
knees.
