Rick, it looks then like some tiny stones or large pieces of grit were
somehow ingested, evidently at El Mirage, if that was not the result of
detonation. I have seen large pits like that before on the cylinder
head of a serious racing Vincent, in an area remote from the spark plug,
that we attributed to slight-to-moderate detonation. Even so in your
case it didn't hurt the power, performance and durability of your
