This is copied from a note received from Gary Allen:

Got a note from the BLM recently on the status of the pumping project for this
year. It is now estimated that they will be able to start pumping by about Dec
16th. They have had problems with the main brackish water pump becoming
clogged with debris that has gotten into the brackish water pond causing the
pump to be pulled for repair twice in the last few weeks. The current primary
salt pond is about 75% full of brackish water now. There have been no reports
of any problems relative to any shortages of brackish water so when the pumping
starts, it should continue as long as the salt content holds up. Will keep all
posted on any new information as we get it. A local TV station (KSL) did a
very positive piece on the pumping project on Thanksgiving day that included
the significant improvements in the quality and area of the salt flats over the
last 5 years and also talked about the pending agreement to continue the
pumping project indefinitely.
