John and list,
The bike racers on our short 'sprint' tracks (straight line kilometres from
a standing start) use a roller system under one driven wheel of the tow van
to then rotate the bikes rear wheel. A single van at the startline area
might be useful to many 'bike racers. Just remember that a van with an
'open' differential is important otherwise the van goes straight ahead as
the rollers are meant to accelerate.
Sure beats adding any more equipment to the bike to my way of thinking.
But what the hell do I know when the only bike I have worked with has three
rocket motors!
