Glad to be helpful, Neil. I just went out and looked at the NAPA
deep-cycle battery in #124 to try to answer Doug's question, but I see
no markings at all on it to confirm it is Exide's, but it certainly
could be, as Ed says.

It says on the top it is NOT to be charged at higher than 14.4 volts(or
may be damaged thereby). So this would be prohibitive in a racecar with
an MSD etc ignition and a charging system that might want to run over
14.4.

But it's a winner in a car with a magneto!

Another consideration is the NAPA Marine deep-cycle I use is about $125
or so here, so a trade discount would help, or if nothing else, they
offer 7% for AAA members(at least in my store).

I like NAPA because they serve the heavy truck trade and can supply all
the serious parts, and quality bulk gasket materials in every form, any
kind of hose, clamp and fitting, and Rockford made in USA grade 5 and
grade 8 nuts, bolts and washers in every imaginable size, etc., all the
stuff you need to build and maintain a racecar.

Now don't somebody come back and spoil my day by saying that Rockford
bolts are made in a back-alley cottage industry in Taiwan! Ardun Bill
