Keith & Group,

We are not ready!! Certainly haven't got done what we had hoped to, but
we will be leaving here Thursday, Lord willing. We will still be in
"suede", the engine was moved forward 5", a new firewall, new floor pan
in driver's compartment, completely rewired, new skirting, new front
belly pan, new scoop, etc. etc. etc.!

The engine maintenance included checking the rod bearings, which look
great, and trying to resolve the timing issue that I was fighting last
year. I checked the timing as it was run last time out at the Dry Lakes
and found it to be set a 50 degrees total, but backed up to 35 degrees
at the upper RPM. The timing is readable now, doesn't jump around, (a
new set of MSD wires took care of that) but now it advances as it
should, 30 crank degrees then starts backing up losing about 15 crank
degrees. I have checked the distributor advance on our SUN distributor
scope and found it to be OK and tried a new MSD ignition box with no
change. I have to assume that it is an internal engine problem, timing
chain stretch, cam walk, or??. Ordered a crank trigger set up today,
hopefully this will solve the mystery.

See you all at the Salt.
