I drove a 91 cu in hydro for several years with 2 4 cylinder Crosleys hooked
together at the snout. Turned them in excess of 7000 and never had a problem.
This boat would hook in the corners and bounce clear of the water and the
engine would go to 8500+. These engines ran alcohol and used a Kong straight
8 distributor.
The guy that owned the boat has restored the engines and was at a boat show
last year and they still run great.
