I remember seeing the US Mule run at Dover Drag Strip in Wingdale, New York
around 1960 or so. It was right after I got out of high school. When you
stood next to that car, you had to marvel at the intestinal fortitude to
drive it given that safety standards at that time for roll bars, cages, etc
certainly aren't what they are today! It was funny , I met Bob at a swap
meet in Connecticut some years ago through a mutual friend. He had some
Dover Drag Strip programs from the early days on display and darned if one
didn't list the first time I won a drag race, my old man's falcon ranchero
in, I think, G/Stock. I had to defeat a covair and a VW for the win. Boy
that was hot stuff in 1960 in a little farming town like mine. Thanks for
triggering those memories!

regards, John (in NH where I am getting ready to go sledding with

#1 grandson if I can keep up with a three year old

in 15" of snow)
