There is only one way in and out of Black Rock from the south -- where
most people arrive from.

Check your map and locate Reno, head east on I-80 until the 447 cutoff
just before Fernley. Head due north for an hour passing to the right
of Pyramid Lake and you hit Gerlach -- the town where the pavement
ends and land speed record begins . . .

Stop in the Miner's Club and say hello to "Bev" the owner and local
WLSR historian. She was so beloved by we racers, media and spectators
that her tiny bar was jammed nightly -- a good thing as she is widow
handling the place by herself.  Richard Noble flew her to England for
a two-week vacation on him for all her hospitality when they were in
town.
