In reference to gauge choice I would have to agree that overall, electrical
gauges are easier to install, unfortunately all of the ones that I have seen
are 90 degree sweep style. These gauges do not have the resolution of most
mechanical style gauges (270 degree sweep) and therefore cannot reflect
subtle changes. Another thought to consider should you decide to run
mechanical pressure gauges is the diameter of the tubing connecting your
gauge to the source. On our oil pressure gauge we run -6 AN from the block
to the gauge. This helps to reduce the delay between oil pressure drop at
the motor, and seeing it on the gauge. Thoughtful placement of the gauges
will ensure easy reading, and a backup electrical "idiot light" on the oil
pressure never hurts.

Well, it is nigh time I purchased my gauges. I see from my Summit
catalog
that there are many to select from. There are two kinds, I see.
Mechanical
and electrical. Of the electrical, there are two kinds, analog and
digital.
I suspect that I am about to open Pandora's box (again), but what
is the
lists recommendation? I have been leaning toward an all digital
system, but
analog is quicker to tell is something bad is happening. How many
of you
actually spend time looking at gauges during a timed run?

        Mayf,
I prefer electrical gauges since the wiring is simpler than the
plumbing.
I also like the larger faces and I position the dials to that they
point at
12:00 O'Clock when things are running normally, tach
